Episode 2 - Blade Runner RPG - An Actual Solo-Play Narrative
A Compendium to Episode 2 - Case File 01
Thank you for watching Episode 2 of the narrative of my solo-play of the Blade Runner RPG by Free League Publishing.
Episode 2 we see a number of the great features of this game and the Year Zero Engine mechanics adapted specifically for Blade Runner. Those are Combat and the Chase rules, and I must say, they’re very, very good and also very good for solo-play and flow as you proceed through each step/round. I’ll cover my full thoughts on playing the game solo in another video on the channel after my complete solo-play.
In a later stack, I’ll be adding a spreadsheet similar to my The One Ring write-ups highlighting each roll, for what and the outcomes, and any special modifiers or decisions I made before each roll. I haven’t quite settled on a format or look for that yet, hence not having it ready for this episode. So apologies for that. The intent, as always, is to share the experience and hopefully help in some way for you to play the game. Also, see ways to either adapt or even create a set of easy tools for solo-play of Blade Runner. So far however, aside from not reading too far into the Case File itself, I haven’t had to utilize any solo-play tools. It’ll come I know, but so far, the Year Zero engine seems to be doing a great job of keeping things flowing and easy to maintain momentum.
Oh, and on time spent playing. Each of these episodes so far has probably been close to an hour of solo-play time: Reading the Case File text, thinking of an action, rolling the dice, writing out the outcomes, writing the narrative! The longest time is the production of the videos! So, 15 min : 1 hour ratio is good I think.
As you watch, if there is something that I have done wrong, please let me know, I’m still learning the system, and having fun playing as I go! So I’m bound to make more mistakes than not!
Thanks for watching!
Cheers,
Ryan of the North
